નારાયણાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારી (વડતાલ)
જય સ્વામિનારાયણ…
વડતાલમાં ભગવાન શ્રી સ્વામિનારાયણ દેવોની પ્રતિષ્ઠા કરવા માટે પધાર્યા. દેવોની પ્રતિષ્ઠાના અગાઉના દિવસે સંતો-બ્રહ્મચારીઓ તથા પાર્ષદોની સભા કરીને મહારાજે અલગ-અલગ વિભાગમાં સંતો-પાર્ષદોની નિમણુંક કરી. હવે, દેવની સેવામાં કોને રાખવા તેની મહારાજે વાત કરી. તેમાં પણ યોગ્ય બ્રહ્મચારીઓને નિમ્યા, સાથે સાથે કહ્યું આ મુળજી બ્રહ્મચારીના શિષ્ય નારાયણાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારી તમે પણ આજથી આ વડતાલમાં દેવોની સેવામાં છો. ‘મહારાજ, જેવી આજ્ઞા.’ બ્રહ્મચારીએ કહ્યું.
બીજે દિવસે મહારાજે દેવોની પ્રતિષ્ઠા કરી. થોડા દિવસ ત્યાં રોકાઈને મહારાજ ગઢપુર પધાર્યા. બ્રહ્મચારીજી મહારાજ દેવોની ખુબ ભાવથી સેવા કરે. અંતરમાં એક અનોખો આનંદ, કે મહારાજે મને આ સેવા આપી છે. દેવોની સેવા કરતા કરતા ઘણા વર્ષ ગયા. મહારાજ પોતાના ધામમાં સિધાવ્યા. અમુક વર્ષો બાદ પોતાના ગુરુ મુળજી બ્રહ્મચારી પણ મહારાજના ધામમાં પધાર્યા. અંતરમાં થોડું દુઃખ રહેતું પરંતુ મહારાજની આજ્ઞા માનીને ભાવથી વ્યવસ્થિત સેવા કરતા.
સેવા કરતા-કરતા ઘણા વર્ષો વીત્યા, નારાયણાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારી પણ વૃદ્ધ થયા, રોજ સવારે દેવોની થાય તેટલી સેવા કરી સ્વામિનારાયણ...સ્વામિનારાયણ ભજન કર્યા કરે. સેવકોએ કહ્યું કે, ગુરુદેવ હવે આપ વૃદ્ધ થયા છો, આપ ફક્ત ભજન કરો, અમે દેવની સેવા કરીશું. આપનું શરીર સાથ આપે ન આપે… ના હો, મહારાજે મને સેવા આપી છે. માટે શરીર જ્યાં સુધી ચાલે ત્યાં સુધી હું સેવા કરીશ! બ્રહ્મચારીએ કહ્યું.
વૃદ્ધ બ્રહ્મચારી રોજની જેમ આજે પણ સેવામાં આવ્યા, શણગાર આરતી પછી થોડીવાર હરિકૃષ્ણ મહારાજની સામે બેસીને માળા ફેરવી. પછી પોતાના આસને જવા માટે બહાર નીકળ્યા. થોડીવાર ત્યાં ઉભા રહી પગથિયાં ઉતરતા હતા. પણ શરીરની સુધ ન રહી અને પગ લપસ્યો પણ ત્યાં કોઈકે બ્રહ્મચારીનો હાથ ઝાલી લીધો અને કહ્યું: ‘હાં..હાં બ્રહ્મચારી મહારાજ જાળવજો, હમણાં પડી જાત.’ કોઈક સ્ત્રીનો અવાજ બ્રહ્મચારીને સંભળાયો. બ્રહ્મચારીએ કહ્યું: ‘મને પડવા દેવોતો, શા માટે મારો હાથ પકડ્યો? મારુ વ્રત ભંગ કરાવ્યું. અંતરથી બ્રહ્મચારીજી ખુબ વ્યથિત થયા.’
એ વખતે અવાજ સંભળાયો, બ્રહ્મચારી મને ન ઓળખી? હું લક્ષ્મીજી છું. ‘હે માં તમે’: બ્રહ્મચારીએ કહ્યું. હા નારાયણાનંદજી હું. તમે જેવા પડતા હતા એ વખતે મને હરિકૃષ્ણ મહારાજે મને કહ્યું: લક્ષ્મીજી અમારા સેવક પડે છે તેનો હાથ ઝાલીને બચાવજો. એટલા માટે હું આવી અને તમે વર્ષોથી અમારી સેવા કરો છો, તે અમારે પણ તમારું ધ્યાન રાખવું પડેને! અને હા બ્રહ્મચારીજી મહારાજ: મહારાજે કહ્યું છે, કાલે બપોરે મહારાજ તમને ધામમાં તેડવા માટે આવશે. ‘સારું માં હું તૈયાર જ છું’: બ્રહ્મચારીએ કહ્યું
બીજે દિવસે નારાયણાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારી નાહી-ધોઈ નવા વસ્ત્રો, કંઠી, જનોઈ ધારણ કરી હરિકૃષ્ણ મહારાજને સુંદર શણગાર ધરાવી પૂજાપાઠ કરી પોતાના આસને પધાર્યા. સાથેના બ્રહ્મચારીઓને કહ્યું; આજે વહેલા થાળ કરી ઠાકોર જમાડી લેજો. આજે મહારાજ મને ધામમાં તેડવા માટે પધારવાના છે.
થાળ વહેલા ધરાવાયા. ઠાકોર જમાડી સહુ ધૂન કરવા લાગ્યા. મહારાજ પધાર્યા દિવ્ય પ્રકાશ થયો અને સહુને જય સ્વામિનારાયણ કરી નારાયણાનંદ બ્રહ્મચારી મહારાજના ધામમાં પધાર્યા.
Firmness in following Aagnya
Shreeji Maharaj was once in Bhuj at Bhagwandas Patel's residence. At that moment, Shreeji Maharaj had initiated a prakaran for saints in which they should wear their upper garment like a veil so that they do not see women.Saints followed this diligently and for that each saint wore his upper body cloth as a veil in the front and the back portion of the cloth held by the sant behind him. Thus they formed a queue and they were lead by a Parshad who did not have to wear a veil and cover his face.
Maharaj saw this and asked, “Saints, do you trust the Parshad who leads you?” Saints replied, “Yes Maharaj, we trust him” Maharaj again asked, “What if he leads you to a known and improper place? So from now on Saints may not wear the veil, but you should walk with your eyesight towards the earth. And if at all you happen to see women in your dreams, you should fast for a day”.
Saying this Maharaj asked the saints to start preaching to devotees. Saints then held satsang assembly. Sadguru Shri Muktanand Swami was in such an assembly. At this time Maharaj thought of doing a lila charitra. He went to the women devotees and told them, “What are you all doing here? Don't you know, Muktanand Swami is doing Katha for the men? Go and sit in the assembly”.
Muktanand Swami and other saints ran away from the assembly as the women devotees approached. They did so only to be firm in following Maharaj's Aagnya of not seeing women. Even if they were given the liberty to not wear a veil, saints were steadfast in their niyam of not seeing women.
Moral: We should follow Maharaj's aagnya (command) no matter how many years we are staying in satsang as we saw from above event that even saint like Muktanand Swami behaved in a way to please Maharaj.
