CHARITRA
માહાત્મ્ય સહિત ભક્તિ
મહારાજ સારંગપુરમાં વિરાજમાન હતા. બ્રહ્મરસની હેલીમાં સહુ ભક્તો ભીંજાઈને બ્રહ્મરૂપ થતા હતા. નિત્ય નવિન વાતોના શ્રવણથી સહુકોઈને આનંદ આવતો. અષાઢ-શ્રાવણ વીત્યા છતાં ક્યાંય નાની સરખી વાદળી દેખાતી ન હતી. એક બાજુ મહારાજ પધાર્યા છે અને સુખ આનંદથી તરબોળ કરે છે એ વાતનો હર્ષ હતો. પરંતુ ગામના નદી-તળાવો સુખા ભટ્ઠ હતા અને મેઘરાજાના આગમનના એંધાણ ન મળવાથી એ વાતનો શોક પણ હતો.
છેવટે એમ થયું આપણે મહારાજને પ્રાર્થના કરીએ તો મહારાજ કૃપા કરીને વરસાદ વરસાવે. બીજે દિવસે સભા ભરાઈ, મહારાજે કથાવાર્તા કરી સહુને સુખ આપ્યું, સભા વિસર્જન થઈ ભક્તો મહારાજના દર્શન કરી પોતાના ઘેર જવા લાગ્યા અને અમુક ભક્તો મહારાજ પાસે રોકાયા અને મહારાજને બે હાથ જોડી આંસુ સારતા કહ્યું,
હે દયાળુ.. આપ પધાર્યા એનો અમને આનંદ છે, પણ વરસાદ ન હોવાથી આવતા વર્ષની ચિંતા છે. માણસો તો ગમે તેમ કરી પેટ ભરશું પણ આ અબોલ પશુનું શું? ભક્તો તમે ચિંતા ન કરો. ઝડપથી ઘેર પહોંચો હમણાં જ મેઘરાજા આવે છે. ભક્તો આનંદથી છલકાતા છલકાતા ઘેર પહોંચ્યા ન પહોંચ્યા ત્યાંતો હાથીના સુંઢની ધારાએ વરસાદ વરસવા લાગ્યો.
ગામમાં ક્યાંય પાણી ન સમાય. રાંધવાની મુશ્કેલી થઇ પડી, શું ખાવું? તે પ્રશ્ન થવા લાગ્યો એવામાં મહારાજે જીવાખાચરને કહ્યું બાપુ અમને ભૂખ લાગી છે, કાંઈ હોય તો લાવો. જીવાખાચરે ઘરમાં પૂછ્યું પણ ચૂલામાં પાણી ભરાઈ ગયું હતું અને બળતણ ભીંજાઈ ગયું હતું.
પણ.. જીવાખાચરે જરા પણ વિલંબ કર્યા વગર એ વખતની રૂ.50 ની ઝૂલવાની ખાટ હતી તે તોડીને તેના નાના ટુકડા કરી પોતાના પત્ની દેવુબાને આપ્યા. દેવુબા એ વખતે ચુલમાંતો પાણી ભરાઈ ગયું હતું પણ ઘરમાં નવુંનકોર માટલું પડ્યું હતું તેને તોડી તેનો ચૂલો કરી મહારાજ માટે રોટલા અને શાક તૈયાર કર્યું અને મહારાજને જમાડીને તૃપ્ત કર્યા. મહારાજ પણ ખુબ રાજી થયા.
મહારાજ ધરમપુરમાં ભોજન કરતા હતા, ભોજન કરી ચળુ કરી ઉભા થયા, હાથ લુછવા માટે કાંઈ વસ્ત્ર ન હતું. એ વખતે કુશળકુંવરબાઈના પૌત્રના પત્નીએ પોતાની મોંઘી સાડીનો છેડો હાથ લુછવા આપ્યો. એ વખતે મહારાજે કહ્યું આ સાડી બગડશે, ત્યારે બાઈએ કહ્યું મહારાજ કોઈ વાંધો નહીં, આપતો સર્વાવતારી છો આપણા ઉપયોગમાં અમારું પદાર્થ ક્યાંથી? પછી મહારાજે હાથ લૂછ્યાં અને કહ્યું અમે હાથ લુછવા માટે તમારી સાડીનો છેડો ઝાલ્યો એમ તમારો જીવન નૌકાનો છેડો અમે ઝાલીએ છીએ.
આમ જો મહારાજ પ્રત્યે માહાત્મ્ય સહિત ભક્તિ હોય તો તેમના માટે કોઈ વસ્તુ સમર્પણ કરતા અથવા સ્વયં સમર્પિત થતા સંકોચ ન થાય.
Ego
Sundarji Suthar was a staunch devotee of Shreeji Maharaj and an administrator of the King of Bhuj. He held a high position in the King's court. Once he came to Gondal in the procession of the King's son and at the same time Shreeji Maharaj was in the nearby village of Bandhiya. So he went for Maharaj's darshan. When he went to Maharaj, Maharaj asked, “Who is it?”, “Maharaj, your servant”, replied Sundarji. Maharaj then asked, “What are the characteristics of a servant?” Sundarji replied, “To do as the master says”. Maharaj said, “Okay so renounce your jewelry, moustache, hair and clothes and become a sadhu”. Sundarji Suthar did as told and became a Sadhu and then Maharaj asked him to walk to Kashi.Maharaj then asked Muktanand Swami, “I have made the King's administrator a Sadhu, isn't that great?” Muktanand Swami said, “Maharaj, when we went to Bhuj we had only one devotee's house to stay when others harassed us and now that is no longer an option”. Maharaj said, “Oh then it is not a great deed, call him back”. When Sundarji Suthar came back, Maharaj again asked, “Who is it?” Sundarji replied, “Maharaj your servant”. Maharaj again asked, “What are the characteristics of a servant?” Sundarji replied, “To do as the master says”. Maharaj said, “Okay so now put on your clothes and jewelry and become as you were before”.
Sundarji did as told, but he felt a little ego and told Maharaj that, “Maharaj, you took such a test of me, but do not do this to others, as others might not be able to handle such a test”. To have Sundarji get rid of his ego, Maharaj wrote a letter to 18 darbar devotees who were well to do and asked them to renounce whatever they were doing and leave the very moment they received the letter and go to Bhuj and to become Sadhus. All 18 did as told and became Sadhus. Seeing this Sundarji’s ego dissolved.
Moral: Even if we do some good deeds in Satsang do not harbor any ego about it.
